Kirants

Tavush is located at the northeast of Armenia. The main territory is mountainous and rocky, hillsides covered with a green carpet of Alpine meadows. Tavush is sometimes referred to as a little Armenian Switzerland. The average height of the region is around 900 meters above sea level. Tavush is also rich for its mountain springs, mineral water and small lakes such as the Lake Parz and Lake Gosh.

Geography: Vayots Dzor is mainly a mountainous region. It is mainly divided into 3 ranges: Vardenis mountain range at the north, Arpa range at the middle and Vayk range at the south. The main rivers are Yeghegis and Arpa. It has lots of tributaries that form waterfalls such as the Jermuk and Herher waterfall.

Jermuk

Vayots Dzor situated at the southeastern end of Armenia. The region is rich with rivers, mountains springs and mineral water. Vayots Dzor is home to many ancient tourist attractions including: Areni cave complex, Smbataberd, Orbelian’s caravanserai. It was announced that the earliest known shoe was found in Areni cave.

SYUNIK

Area: 4506 km²  Population 153 000

Administrative center: Kapan

Geography: The highest point is Kaputjugh-Azhdahak (3906m). Also known mountains Bahats, Khustup Mets Ishkhanasar, Aramazd. Forests cover much of the area, for example, Mtnadzor is a unique natural plane-tree forest.

Tatev

Syunik is located in the south part of Armenia. Syunik is a mountainous region, mainly covered with thick green forests. The Zangezur Mountains occupy most of the territories of Syunik. Mount Kaputjugh with a height of 3905 meters and Mount Gazanasar with a height of 3829 meters are the highest peaks of the province. The main water basins include the rivers of Vorotan, Voghji, Sisian, Meghri and Vachagan.

The province is home to the Wings of Tatev cableway, which is the longest reversible aerial tramway, built in only one section, and holds the record for Longest non-stop double track cable car 5.7 km.

Lake Akna

Kotayk region is located at the central part of the country. St. Virgin church in Gavar

Gegharkunik Province located in the central part of modern-day Armenia. Gegharkunik has a mountainous landscape. The territory is dominated by the Gegham mountains from the west, the mountains of Vardenis from the south, Sevan mountains from the east, Miapor mountains from the northeast and the Kenats mountains from the north. The height of the mountains ranges between 2500 and 3500 meters. Approximately 1,278 km² of its territory is covered by Lake Sevan, the largest lake in the Caucasus and a major tourist attraction of the region. The highest point of the province is mount Azhdahak of the Gegham mountains with a height of 3597 meters.

Khor Virap

Ararat Province is named after the historic Ayrarat province of Ancient Armenia. It is bordered by Turkey from the west and from there one can admire a beautiful view to Mount Ararat. The Khor Virap monastery is among the regular tourist destinations in Ararat Province. The ancient settlement Dvin is among the attractive site for archaeologists.

The province is home to many protected areas of nature including the  Khosrov Forest State Reserve.

Aragatsotn region is located at the western part of the country. The northern part of the province is dominated by the Aragats mountain range.
